Woman Charged With Leaving Scene Of Crash In New Canaan

A woman from Northern Westchester is facing charges after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash in New Canaan, police say.

New Canaan Police responded to the area of 1529 Ponus Ridge Road on Monday, Feb. 25 around 3 p.m. on the report of a damaged guardrail, a license plate with New York registration and some vehicular debris.

The following investigation revealed that 55-year-old De Fretes Leguizamon of Bedford Hills was driving the vehicle that struck the guardrail on Monday, Feb. 18 while traveling to work. She further alleged that it was snowing at the time of the crash and that her vehicle slid off the road and hit the guardrail, police say.

Leguizamon was charged with evading responsibility, a misdemeanor. She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, March 8.
